Description:
Brain Balance is a unique formula designed to ensure the proper levels and balance of the neurotransmitters in the brain . It is not enough to just raise certain neurotransmitters; the brain's inhibitory and excitatory system must be in balance.
If you have a chemical or neurotransmitter imbalance you may experience Depression, Anxiety, Mood Swings, Insomnia, ADD/ADHD, Obesity, and problems memory and focus. Brain Balance's unique formula has ingredients that not only increase levels of the commonly deficient neurotransmitters but it also supports GABA which helps calm the system reducing excessive neurotransmitter activity. Stress, poor nutrition, and age decrease key amino acids that play a role in mood and cognition. The nutritional treatment of depression includes supplementation with specific amino acids which are precursors to neurotransmitters, supportive treatment with vitamins, minerals, and dietary modifications.
Brain balance supplies the amino acids and vitamin cofactors that are important for the production of neurotransmitters in the brain, specifically those involved in mood regulation and balancing of the inhibitory and excitatory system.
Brain Balance contains neurotransmitter precursors and nutrient co-factors to:
- Reduce Anxiety
- Elevate Mood
- Improve Focus and Concentration
- Increase GABA & Serotonin Production
- Increase Dopamine , Norepinephrine, and Epinephrine
- Modulate Glutamate
How is Brain Balance Different? Most antidepressant medications and herbs like St. Johns Wort move neurotransmitters such as Serotonin, dopamine, or norepinephrine out of where they are stored in the presynaptic neuron and into the synapse. They block the reuptake of Serotonin possibly elevating the amount that binds to the receptor. It is important to understand that they do not add any molecules of Serotonin to the brains supply. Scientific studies have shown that Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor's (SSRI'S) must have adequate supplies of serotonin in order for them to be effective. The same is true for herbs like St.John's Wort. If you are deficient to begin with you may not have a good response with those types of treatment.
Brain Balance gives your brain the raw materials it needs to actually make more Serotonin, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, and GABA.
The brain is a chemical factory which makes the neurotransmitters (chemical messengers) which regulate your mood 24 hours a day. Neurotransmitters are brain chemicals that relay messages from one neuron to another. Each one has a different effect on our mood and behavior. By eating certain foods or supplementing certain nutrients we can alter the available amounts of our neurotransmitters.
Neurotransmitters are either excitatory, causing a neuron to send a signal or inhibitory, preventing a signal from being sent. The inhibitory system helps to slow things down or stops signals from continuing. The excitatory system sends signals to speed things up, get things going.
If an imbalance occurs the excitatory system can get out of control making you feel overexcited, racy, or anxious. If the initiatory neurotransmitters are too high important signals may be stopped.
This can lead to symptoms of depression, fatigue, or compulsive behaviors. The brains chemistry must be in balance so we can feel our best emotionally.
The Brain Balance Formula Brain Balance uses researched clinically proven ingredients that increase and balance neurotransmitters in the brain. The GMP certified manufacturing facility utilizes the highest quality USP pharmaceutical grade raw materials.
This formula contains Therapeutic dosages of the precursors that make Serotonin, Dopamine, Norepinephrine, and Epinephrine in the brain. Other products may contain similar ingredients but at concentrations far too low to be effective. Brain Balance contains well over 70 mg of 5 HTP per capsule, much more than the other leading brands. You would have to take many more capsules a day at a much higher price to receive the same response with other products.
5-Hydroxytryptophan - An amino acid proven in clinical studies to increase Serotonin in the brain. 5 HTP along with the required nutrient co-factors found in this formula increase brain Serotonin levels to reduce depression, anxiety, improve appetite control, and the sleep/wake cycle.
L Theanine increases levels of GABA. Works to prevent neurotransmitter over stimulation, keeping the excitatory system in balance. This amino acid has been studied extensively for its ability to reduce the uptake of the excitatory (stimulating) amino acid glutamate and balance out how much Serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine is excreted. Theanine has been found to have a protective effect for the brains neurons shielding them from the deadly toxic effects of oxidation and glutamate over stimulation.
L-Tyrosine-a precursor for the catecholamine's (dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine). Supports appetite control, energy level, mental clarity, positive mood, stress response, and thyroid function.
Calcium Citrate - Involved with epinephrine release. A deficiency in calcium can cause irritability, anxiety, and insomnia.
Folic Acid - folate deficiency is linked to depression, insomnia, anorexia, forgetfulness, hyperirritability, apathy, fatigue and anxiety.
Vitamin B6 as Pyridoxyl 5' Phosphate the active co enzymatic form of B6. The cofactor for enzymes that convert Tryptophan to serotonin and L-tyrosine to norepinephrine. Consequently, vitamin B6 deficiency might result in depression.
Vitamin C- A required co-factor for the conversion of 5-HTP to Serotonin. Prevents 5-HTP from converting to Serotonin in the GI tract .
Ingredients
Vitamin C 75 mg L-Tyrosine, L-Theanine
Folic Acid 50 mcg 5 Hydroxytryptophan
Vitamin B6 (P-5-P) 8.5 mg Calcium Citrate
Take two Capsules twice daily
Side Effect and Drug Interaction Information Brain Balance is as safe as it is effective. When taken as directed side effects are extremely rare.
Because Brain Balance does not contain St. Johns Wort there is NO interaction with Birth Control pills or the many other prescription medications that are documented to interact with the herb hyperforin or hypericum (St. John's Wort).
Brain Balance may boost the effectiveness of certain antidepressant medication such as SSRI's by increasing neurotransmitter supplies, but this should only be done under the guidance of your healthcare practitioner. Brain Balance should not be taken if you are taking an MAO Inhibitor such as Marplan, Parnate, or Nardil. If you are pregnant or nursing consult your healthcare practitioner bfore taking this or any medications or supplements.
Nutritional Mood Support For many years, it has been known in medicine that low levels of neurotransmitters can cause many diseases and illnesses.
A neurotransmitter imbalance can cause depression, anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome, hormone dysfunction, eating disorders, fibromyalgia, obsessions, compulsions, adrenal dysfunction , chronic pain, migraine headaches, and even early death.
Dopamine, GABA, Glutamate, Norepinephrine, and Serotonin are the most common neurotransmitters involved in cognition and mood disorders and are those frequently targeted by the pharmaceutical industry.
What causes or contributes to Neurotransmitter Imbalances?
- Prolonged periods of stress can deplete our levels. Our fast paced, fast food society greatly contributes to these imbalances.
- Poor Diet. Neurotransmitters are made in the body from proteins. Also required are certain vitamins and minerals called "cofactors". If your nutrition is poor and you do not take in enough protein, vitamins, or minerals to build the neurotransmitters, a neurotransmitter imbalance develops. We really do think and feel what we eat.
- Genetic factors, faulty metabolism, and digestive issues can impair absorption and breakdown of our food which reduces are ability to manufacture neurotransmitters.
- Toxic substances like heavy metals, pesticides, drug use, and some prescription drugs can cause permanent damage to the nerve cells that make serotonin and other neurotransmitters.
- Certain drugs and substances such as caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, NutraSweet, antidepressants, and some cholesterol lowering medications deplete serotonin and other neurotransmitter levels.
- Hormone changes cause low levels of serotonin and neurotransmitter imbalances.
When the stress, nutritional deficiencies, emotional, and the toxic burden becomes to high it depletes our neurotransmitter stores and symptoms emerge.
Once symptoms emerge correcting it is not as simple as eating the right foods. It requires specialized supplementation at higher levels than can be obtained from your diet. Nutrient therapies greatly increase the levels of neurotransmitters that a person has been found to be deficient in. Studies have shown that it is both safe and effective and most patients experience symptom reduction within weeks. These pharmaceutical grade nutrients will cross the blood brain barrier into the brain where they will be synthesized into neurotransmitters and this will raise the number of neurotransmitter molecules needed by the brain.
