“Wired and Tired” – Inflamed and in Pain
Part 4 of my 5 part mini-series on adrenal fatigue focuses on the most common phase of adrenal burnout we see in our offices: The “Wired and Tired” – Inflamed and in Pain profile. The hallmark of this mixed adrenal state consists of fatigue and anxiousness with inflammation and pain. This profile reflects that your adrenal cortex (that part of your adrenal gland that makes cortisol and DHEA) is failing earlier and faster than your adrenal medulla (where adrenaline and norepinephrine are made). As a result, your cortisol is low and your adrenaline and norepinephrine are still elevated. This profile, the most common adrenal state we see in our clinics, creates and/or perpetuates an inflammatory state that is often associated with other signs of systemic inflammation. As the name suggests, this state is most prominently associated with fatigue, anxiousness and tension, multiple physical aches and pains, and evidence of other illnesses of inflammation.
