NorLOX contains acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid which is a potent inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX), the enzyme responsible for the production of pro-inflammatory leukotrienes. Acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid also prevents TNF-α induced expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and upregulation of adhesion molecules, both of which are involved in the movement of leukocytes to the site of inflammation.
